2/4 (Monday): Ivory wide-rib turtleneck sweater, old dk. brown NY & Co. pants, brown Born boots
2/5 (Tuesday): Black button-down shirt over green edge-stitched pants, black high heels.
I liked it. Although it felt like the kind of book that was going by too fast - honestly, there was enough plot there to flesh out a much longer book than it is. Parts that were supposed to be shocking weren't as shocking as they could have been, because the book was rushing so much that it didn't take the time to make the set up. The dialogue felt a little bit too self-consciously Mickey Spillane at the beginning, but after the first few pages, it finds its own rhythm. Good story, but be warned that it's depressing!
2/1 (Friday): old green turtleneck sweater from Old Navy, ugly oversized dark tan corduroy Eddie Bauer pants (so I could wear layers underneath because I spent part of the day outside in the ice/rain storm). Ivory wool knee socks (which are awesomely made in USA) and black cowboy boots, because they're the next-best thing to my snowboots when it comes to traction for walking on ice.
2/2 (Saturday): brown-and-white Old Navy short-sleeved polo layered over brown Old Navy tiny fit long-sleeved shirt. Pink corduroy Aeropostale pants. Kenzo Amour perfume.
2/3 (Sunday): long-sleeved black thermal shirt and pink corduroys.
1/9 (Wednesday): Striped brown-and-pink long-sleeved Old Navy buttoned shirt, Rafaella pants again, tan boot socks and Born boots. No perfume. Later, gray sweatpants again and old blue college shirt and Aeropostale blue jacket with racing stripes down the arms.
1/10 (Thursday): green sage colored turtleneck sweater (which is on sale right now, by the way), B. Moss herringbone pants again, Eddiebauer tan boot socks, Born boots. Oatmeal colored wool coat. Green Tea Demeter perfume.
1/11 (Friday): I don't remember! It was a 'not leaving the house today' day.
1/12 (Saturday): Cassidy jeans from The Limited, heathered blue v-neck short sleeve shirt from Old Navy, brown cowboy boots, brown knee socks. Green Tea Demeter perfume, wool coat.
1/13 (Sunday): Foster's beer t-shirt, sweatpants (laundry day!)
Fabulously Broke in the City advises that before overhauling your wardrobe, you monitor what you wear for a while, in order to get an idea of what your lifestyle is like and which 20% of your wardrobe you wear constantly. I thought I'd take her advice! For a week or so, or until I get bored/forget.
So far:
Sunday (1/6) -black Joe Boxer long-sleeved thermal shirt, fuzzy gray Old Navy sweatpants with wide waistband, blue socks, black Fatbaby boots.
Monday (1/7) - hand-me-down Gap roll-collar blouse in ivory, tucked into brown herringbone pants from B. Moss. Dark brown boot socks and brown Born Navi boots (their first day out!) Banana Republic warm-red trench coat. Salt Air Demeter perfume.
Tuesday (1/8) - brownish-gray cuffed Rafaella pants, pink three-quarter sleeved NY & Co. buttoned shirt, junky black high-heeled boots from Ames. Thunderstorm Demeter perfume.
I'd wear this. Pretty lace overlay on a dress makes the 'black dress' idea less boring.
I have never heard of Jenni Kayne before, but I hope I get to see more of her designs in the future. Look!
I'm iffy on the three-quarter sleeves, but how flattering could this dress be? I like the neckline especially
I love that the electric blue color is still hanging on. I'm completely bored of black. I want to copy this sort of color blocking - look, she's even wearing purple/burgundyish shoes with it! Nice.
The fabric and the length is what I love about this dress.
Look at this! YELLOW. I love yellow. Even if you don't care for the color, the cut of the pattern is so ladylike. And again, it's a long dress!
